What it is

Most freight in the UK travels shared: your goods ride with strangers' goods, are handled at hubs, and arrive when the network's schedule says so. A dedicated vehicle removes all of that. You book the vehicle, not space on one — and from the moment it is loaded, nothing else goes in and nothing comes out until it reaches your delivery address.

That single fact solves several problems at once. Handling drops to two touches — on at collection, off at delivery — which is why fragile and awkward loads travel better this way. Timing becomes yours to set, because there is no round to fit into. And the consignment is never out of one driver's sight, which matters when the contents are valuable, confidential or simply irreplaceable.

Dedicated work is not only for emergencies. Businesses book dedicated vehicles for scheduled runs where reliability matters more than the cheapest rate: weekly inter-site transfers, contract deliveries with fixed windows, or movements where a missed slot costs far more than the transport. Private customers use the same service for single large moves where they want one pair of hands responsible from door to door.

The vehicle assigned depends on what you are moving — we size it from your dimensions at quote stage so you are not paying for empty air or, worse, watching a second trip become necessary.

02

Who it suits

Business use

Consignments that must not be co-loaded: prototypes and pre-release stock, tender documents, audited chains of custody, exhibition builds with a venue slot booked to the minute. Also the everyday case — a full or near-full van load, where dedicating the vehicle costs little more than sharing it and removes every handover risk.

Private use

A house-move's worth of belongings, a piece of furniture you have restored, artwork, instruments, or anything you would rather see loaded and know that the next person to touch it is the one signing for it. You can travel behind the van and watch it arrive.

03

What we need from you

  • Collection postcode and delivery postcode
  • Dimensions, weight and item count — we size the vehicle from these
  • Date and timing window, or the schedule if the run repeats
  • Access at both ends — height limits, loading bays, waiting restrictions
  • Handling requirements — fragile, high value, two-person lift, tail lift

How it works

  1. Size the job

Send dimensions and postcodes through the movement brief. We come back with the vehicle class we would assign and a fixed price for the run.

  2. Reserve the vehicle

On confirmation the vehicle is reserved against your job and taken out of availability for anything else that day or slot.

  3. Load and seal

The driver supervises or assists loading, secures the consignment, and departs. Nothing further is loaded en route.

  4. Deliver intact

The doors open next at your delivery address. Unloading is checked against the brief and delivery is confirmed with a named signature and your MNA reference.

Dedicated vehicle questions

What sizes of vehicle can I book?

SWB vans for documents and smaller consignments, LWB vans for furniture and part loads, and Luton tail-lift vehicles for removals, heavy items and pallets. Larger or specialist vehicles are arranged per job through vetted partners — tell us what you are moving and we name exactly what we would send.

Can the driver wait while goods are prepared or installed?

Waiting time can be built into the booking if you tell us in advance. Unplanned waiting is charged at an agreed rate rather than refused — but the honest answer is that a realistic brief up front is cheaper for you.

Can I book a return leg on the same vehicle?

Yes. Out-and-back movements — deliver stock, bring back returns or empties — are common and priced as one job. Say so in the enquiry and we quote the round trip.

Is a dedicated vehicle the same as same-day delivery?

They overlap but answer different questions. Same-day is about the deadline; dedicated is about exclusivity. A dedicated vehicle can run same-day, next-day or on a schedule — what never changes is that the vehicle carries only your goods.

Can someone accompany the load?

Ask when you enquire. Depending on the vehicle and insurance position we can sometimes seat one passenger from the collecting party; where we cannot, we keep you updated so closely that you will not feel the difference.

One load, one vehicle, one pair of hands.

Submitting an enquiry sends it for review. It does not confirm a price, vehicle availability, collection time or acceptance of a booking. We will contact you to confirm.
